Hospital Bed Rental in Vermont
Full-electric hospital beds delivered and set up at your home. Standard and bariatric options. Hospital bed rentals are a core part of what we do, and most rentals run from two weeks to six months.

What is a hospital bed rental?
A hospital bed rental is a full-electric medical bed delivered to your home, set up by our team, and picked up when you no longer need it. The bed positions head, foot, and overall height by hand pendant. Side rails, mattress, and accessories are included with the rental.
Most rentals are for recovery from surgery, hospice care, fall recovery, or to make caregiving easier on a family member. Rental keeps the cost down compared to buying outright, and we handle delivery, setup, and pickup so there is nothing to figure out.

We carry two lines, depending on what you are after. The Icare IC333 is our premium homecare bed for people who want something that looks like furniture and plan to keep it. Drive Medical covers the budget side, with standard and bariatric beds you can rent short-term or buy.

Who rents a hospital bed
Most of our rentals fall into one of five situations. Rental is the right call when the bed is only needed for a defined window and buying outright would be wasteful.
- Recovery from surgery – knee or hip replacement, back surgery, or other major procedures where the patient needs an adjustable bed for two to eight weeks while they heal.
- Ski injury recovery – a real seasonal driver for us. People who can’t safely get in and out of their regular bed after a winter accident, often combined with a knee scooter rental for mobility.
- Hospice care at home – keeping a loved one comfortable in familiar surroundings. Side rails, head and foot positioning, and adjustable deck height make caregiving easier and safer.
- Fall recovery or short-term mobility loss – when getting in and out of a standard bed is unsafe, an adjustable hospital bed reduces the risk of another fall.
- Family caregiver support – adjustable height makes transfers, dressing changes, and bathing far easier on the caregiver’s back. Useful for any extended in-home care situation.

Frequently asked questions
Common questions about hospital bed rentals, answered straight.
Does Medicare or insurance cover hospital bed rentals?
Medicare Part B covers hospital bed rentals when a doctor certifies the medical necessity. The Drive Medical standard and bariatric beds carry HCPCS billing codes (E0297 for the standard, E0301 for the bariatric). Most private insurance and Vermont Medicaid plans cover rentals under similar rules. We help you understand what your specific plan covers before the bed is delivered.
How is the bed delivered and set up?
Our team brings the bed components to your home and assembles them in the room you choose. We attach the side rails, place the mattress, and walk the caregiver through the hand pendant for positioning. Setup typically takes 30 to 60 minutes depending on the room and access.
What is included with the rental?
The bed frame, motorized head and foot positioning, hand pendant, side rails (full or half), mattress, and delivery and setup are all included. Trapeze bars, bed extenders, and overbed tables are available as add-ons if needed.
How long can I rent a hospital bed?
Rentals are billed monthly with no maximum length. Most rentals run between two weeks and six months, but we have customers who rent for a year or longer when hospice or extended recovery requires it.
Can I extend the rental if I need the bed longer?
Yes. Call us and we extend the rental month to month with no break in service. If the rental looks like it will go indefinitely, we can also discuss converting to a purchase with rental credit applied.
What happens when I no longer need the bed?
Call us and we schedule a pickup. Our team comes out, disassembles the bed, and removes it from your home. There are no disposal fees and no return shipping to arrange.
